Our Programs and Services
Since its founding over 120 years ago, Star Gospel Mission has been dedicated to addressing homelessness and substance abuse in Charleston.
Transitional Housing
With over 400 unhoused individuals on any given night in the Charleston area, the need for outcome-focused programs is great. Our transitional housing programs are more than homeless shelters. They are designed to extend a real hand up through Christ’s love to people struggling with economic, emotional, spiritual and physical hardships with a goal of self-sufficiency.
Our program provides spiritual care, training, and supportive services to equip our guests to become productive, self-sufficient members of the Charleston community.
Recovery and Intervention from Substance Abuse (RISA)
For those impacted by substance abuse in our community, help is even harder to come by. Because of that, the Lowcountry has seen a dramatic 30% increase in the number of deaths from drug overdose.
In order to combat this issue, we plan to expand our facility and establish a rehabilitation program for recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.
Community Outreach and Resources
At Star Gospel Mission, we are dedicated to uplifting families in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties through our comprehensive community outreach programs. Our mission is to provide essential support and resources to those in need, fostering a stronger, more resilient community.
