Our Plans for a Women and Children’s Transitional Housing Campus
Star Gospel Mission has been dedicated to transforming lives by providing comprehensive support and resources to individuals facing homelessness, addiction, and other challenges for over 120 years. As we continue to expand our impact, the next phase of development for our program will focus on supporting women and their children.
The Morning Light Women and Children Program will provide housing and wraparound support for mothers and their children, empowering them to overcome adversity and achieve lasting transformation.
Program Highlights
Tutoring and Academic Support - After-school tutoring and academic enrichment through partnerships with local schools and dedicated volunteers.
Emotional and Social Support - Play therapy, group activities, and specialized counseling for children to address trauma, fostering emotional well-being and social development.
Resourcing childcare and schooling - Working with mothers to help resource and connect them to the best options for their child's childcare and schooling opportunities. Additionally, we will help mothers focus on their continuing education opportunities.
Parental Life Skills Training - Parenting classes to help mothers balance responsibilities and address emotional challenges.
Family Counseling - Counseling sessions to support emotional and mental health for both mothers and children.
Early Education - Partnering organizations provide a safe, nurturing environment tailored to children's developmental needs.
Our goal is to raise $4 million over the next 3 years to develop a program and property that will support women and children who are experiencing homelessness.
