Friends of Morning Light

The Friends of Morning Light believe that women and children facing the hardships of homelessness in the Lowcountry deserve a place of refuge and hope and that it is our community's urgent responsibility to provide it. With God at the center and the support of a compassionate network, we are committed to supporting Star Gospel Mission's work of providing women and children with life-transforming resources that lead to self-sufficiency.

Did you know that in the Charleston County School system* alone, there are over 300 school aged students who are experiencing homelessness? (* Mckinney-Vento Office for Displaced Families)

Did you know that the percentage of those experiencing homelessness is increasing by 25% each year and that women with children represent 36% of those in need of safe and supportive housing?

Upon hearing of this great need to support women and children experiencing homelessness, a group of friends have organized to raise awareness and support to his vital cause. The Friends of Morning Light volunteer their time and resources to aid Star Gospel Mission’s Brighter Together capital campaign with a focus on establishing a transitional housing program for women and children.
