David Ingle

Dear Friends: As we shared with you earlier this year, Star Gospel Mission’s longtime Executive Director and Pastor, Reverend Bill Christian, moved on from SGM after a vibrant ministry of 17 years. After Pastor Bill’s departure, we prayerfully commenced a nationwide search for a leader with the skills to build upon the Mission’s excellent history, reputation, and credibility. I am delighted to announce that we have found that leader.

As of July 1, Reverend Dr. Marion Platt will serve in the role of the Mission’s sixth Executive Director and Pastor. Marion comes to Star Gospel Mission with an extensive background in faith-based organizational leadership. A native of West Ashley, Marion served two enlistments in the U.S. Army before embarking on a nineteen-year ministry with The Salvation Army. He has held executive, academic, and pastoral roles in many cities across the South, earned his doctoral degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, and has preached the Gospel around the world. An important task for him in his first year will be to work closely with the Star Gospel Mission’s board in the formation and implementation of the new strategic plan.

We solicit your prayers for Pastor Marion, his wife Dr. Everette Platt, and their children as they relocate to Charleston. Meanwhile, you are always welcome to connect with him at marion.platt@stargospelmission.org.

Yours Truly,

David Ingle Board Chairman, Star Gospel Mission
